The dragon nodded, then turned to Arienne and studied the girl for moment. "But you...you are not one of her companions? What brings you here?"

She held the dragon's gaze respectively. "I come for a reason I choose to keep to myself," she said.

Ranewhen was studying some rather plain-looking rocks in the corner, looking a little lost to the world.
She was very deep in thought.

The roses in her garden fade away
Not one left for her grave
Not a rose for Emily..."

For a while, there was a sort of dead silence. Then Cyanlra looked around, and spoke. "Do either of you sing?"

Arienne looked at the dragon in shock. It was probably the last thing she had actually expected to come from the dragon.

"Why do you ask?"
Of course she could sing....all elves sang.
Elves, having endless years to live, worked hard on perfecting the fine things in life they could experience. Elves were mostly born with a fine touch for music, and if they weren't they learnt to be.

Ranewhen had been taught very young to perfect her voice. She was obviously unlike other elves, living with mortals, protecting a villiage.....she rarely had time as normal elves do for such things as singing, but that didn't mean she couldn't.

"Could you sing for me? Please? I am a lonely dragon, and would love a pretty voice."

"What would you want to be sung?"

The dragon thought for a moment. "I care not. The first thing that comes to mind will do.."

Ranewhen nodded and began to sing.
It was in an old, forgotten language, a language of air and rains.
Her quiet but powerful voice echoed eerily through the cave.

Both the dragon and Arienne closed their eyes, listening in silence.

Ranewhen finished quietly, going back to looking at the stones.

Kila stired in the snow burrow she was sleeping in. She had never met an ice dragon. Uncle (the wizard who raised her) said ice dragons breathed ice instead of fire. She would have to be careful not to sneeze. Was the ice dragon lonely? She closed her eyes and sang. To any other creature it would sound like a whistle or a hum, but a dragon (or one of dragon blood) would hear the words.

I was born in a firery moutain,
in an egg with a shell like steel,
raised by a mortal wizard,
Now I search for my kin,

My name is Kila Stormstone,
I search for other dragons,
Fire, ice, water, storm,
I will find them all.

She finished with a soft note to make gems glow with light.

Both dragons perked up at the song. Arienne turned, looking for the source while Cyanlra checked to see if Ranwhen had noticed it.
